Support the most significant housing initiative in Ambleside for a generation
Public Hearing
Monday, June 24, 2024, at 7 pm West Van Municipal Hall
Support the proposal for a vibrant, new apartment area in Ambleside at a Public Hearing on Monday, June 24, 2024, at 7 pm at West Vancouver Municipal Hall. The apartment area proposal has the potential to become the most significant housing initiative in Ambleside for a generation delivering:
Rent-to-own, co-op, or rental infill on large sites to preserve existing rental buildings
Expanded seniors’ housing on existing age-restricted sites to accommodate our aging population
A mix of unit sizes on all sites to provide for different housing needs/life stages
Strata apartment renewal on low-rise sites surrounded by existing mid/high-rise
Townhouses on narrow waterfront lots
Replenished/new community spaces combined with rental, or strata if 30% of the floor area is below-market rental
Ownership, live-work, rental, 30% below-market rental combined with strata, rent-to-own, seniors – all on the entire 1800 block of Marine Drive
The use of District-owned lands to meet housing needs
