Rental protections rejected by WV council
Thousands of West Van renters could face ‘demoviction’, with our community losing much of its (already insufficient) rental housing stock, unless council rezones 30 apartment buildings as rental-only.
While the measure was recommended based on existing housing needs, and strong public support, some members of council have indicated that they would allow owners to redevelop the buildings to sell strata units.
Urge mayor and council to support rental housing now!

How mobility can help build community
Positive Voices’ latest public meeting discussed the contribution mobility can make to a well-functioning community.
As West Vancouver engages with the next phase of the Ambleside Local Area Plan, we considered what we can learn from communities around the world who are rethinking transportation and land use planning.

Watch our ‘LAP 101’, then have your say
Positive Voices brought together a panel of experts to explain local government planning and how the Ambleside Local Area Plan could address West Van’s challenges.
Watch a video of the meeting and then have your say on the LAP engagement before the end of May.

What will the LAP mean for Ambleside?
Residents are being asked how they would like to see Ambleside develop over the next 20 or so years, as a Local Area Plan for the area is created.
To supplement the District of West Vancouver’s public engagement Positive Voices is holding a public meeting to help explain how local government planning works.

Who’s Afraid of a Code of Conduct?
West Van’s council has the opportunity to pass a proposed code of conduct

This is what a housing solution looks like
The proposed studio apartment building at Clyde Ave will provide 201 new rental units, if passed.

A vital project for our community - with 156 below-market rental units and an adult day care facility - faces one final vote before being approved.
It’s essential that the proposal wins public support so we can start to tackle the housing crisis and help young families, seniors, and essential workers find appropriate accommodation in our community.
