Ambleside local area plan ‘101’

Positive Voices held a public information meeting alongside the district’s Ambleside local area plan (LAP) engagement.

Our panel discussion answered questions such as:

  • What is a local area plan?

  • What are West Van’s challenges?

  • How could the LAP help address housing needs?

  • How does the engagement work? Can we reach a consensus?

Background: Ambleside Local Area Plan (District of West Vancouver)

The panellists were:

  • Murray Mollard (chair), Executive Director, North Shore Community Resources;

  • Marta Farevaag, a distinguished urban planner who’s worked on many projects including National Historic Sites Rideau Hall and Parliament Hill;

  • Andy Krawczyk, longtime West Van engaged citizen and member of the North Shore Community Housing Action Committee (CHAC); and

  • Alex Boston, former Director of SFU’s Renewable Cities program.

Watch a recording of the meeting using the link below.

Please note: this was an independently-organized opportunity to learn more about the background to the LAP, and not part of the District of West Vancouver’s engagement.
