Do your part to build a better Ambleside
To meet the expected population growth in West Vancouver, the District’s Official Community Plan (OCP) estimates that Ambleside needs to provide 1,000 to 1,200 net new residential units by 2041. This growth will include the commercial area in Ambleside as described in the Ambleside Local Area Plan (LAP).
The District of West Vancouver is asking for your feedback on the draft Ambleside Local Area Plan (LAP) by March 17th. You can give your input via email to planambleside@westvancouver.ca or by phone at 604-921-3459.
Here are some of the issues you may want to consider in your response:
Does this plan meet the housing needs for rentals /condos and multi-unit housing by the heights and number of buildings?
Do you agree we need housing for our children, grandchildren, downsizing seniors, workers and the homeless, that may need to be affordable (below market) or supported housing?
Is the proposed increase in new residential units located in the best location?
Will the new residential population contribute to the revitalization of the commercial hub?
Are the proposed community public spaces improvements (e.g. waterfront and village gathering places) be well situated and adequate?
Are improvements to transportation sufficient to serve the growing population? For example, should the Rapid Bus service extend into Ambleside and beyond?
How does the LAP facilitate greater mobility for all pedestrians, especially older adults and residents with disabilities? For example, wider sidewalks.
Is there sufficient provision for the safety of people on bikes and people walking? For example, bike lane connections and separate lanes?
But the most important thing is to make your voice heard by March 17th to build a better Ambleside now!
Thanks for your positive voices,
