Here on Earth, and in Ambleside

As we mark Earth Day on April 22nd, this stunning image of an ‘Earthset’  from the recent NASA Artemis II moonshot reminds us of both the beauty and the fragility of the planet we call home.

Here on Earth, and more specifically in our home of West Vancouver, we also have our own community to protect and nurture for ourselves and for the generations that come after us. You may have seen this article in the  North Shore News about an upcoming ‘Public Hearing’ regarding the Ambleside Local Area Plan on Monday, April 27 at 5 pm at West Vancouver Municipal Hall. 

By way of context, the province stepped in to pass the local area plan it into law in April 2026 after West Vancouver council had missed multiple deadlines to approve it. So, this meeting has no official purpose but offers residents and the media an opportunity to hear progressive voices of support and positivity.

The Ambleside local area plan is our own community-generated plan that has been in the works for almost a decade, and in June 2022, council approved the development of a final plan. At least 25 separate consultation opportunities were involved in finalizing the local area plan.

You can make your voice heard – even retrospectively – to express the views of the wider West Vancouver community. You can attend and speak at the meeting either remotely or in person and contact your elected members. Find out how here.
