Positive Voices cleans up on the beach

On Saturday, April 19th, enthusiastic volunteers from Positive Voices and Hollyburn Sailing Club gathered to remove over 6,000 harmful items from Ambleside beach, including cans, bottles, small plastic and metal pieces and a huge styrofoam block. Styrofoam is particularly detrimental as it breaks down into small pieces, deteriorating our water and soil environments, and eventually polluting the animal food chain.

West Vancouver Parks continued the campaign to ‘Clean up West Van’ for the rest of the week with an Earth Day celebration on Saturday, April 26, during which West Van Streamkeepers infused a nearby stream….with baby salmon!

Let's keep collecting garbage all year round. Here are two ways to show your progress.

  • Participate in the Ocean Ambassadors Pick up 3 program and join a community of pickers who track their results all year round.

Thanks again to all our volunteers who continue to make such a difference to the health of our environment!
