What our community survey reveals

Thank you to the ~300 residents who completed our recent Positive Voices Community Survey. The vast majority of respondents live in West Vancouver. 95% rate their quality of life as good to excellent, with some clear priorities for change.

The top three priorities outlined below are especially important as we enter the municipal election on October 17 and the federal by-election on August 31 for residents in the North Vancouver-Capilano riding.

It’s no surprise that transportation is the top issue now and in future. Of the possible changes we can make, the top area for improvement is public transit, followed by improvements to walking infrastructure.

There is strong agreement among respondents for increasing housing options in West Vancouver.

Recreation and parks received the highest number of votes for community amenities focus.

Protecting forests and streams and preparing for wildfires and floods are the top two environmental priorities.

These results present what people in West Vancouver who responded think are today’s and tomorrow’s priorities. We hope they can inform decision-making as we enhance our community and at the same time, protect what makes it such a great place to live.
